Why Fairy Garden?

Why Fairy Garden?
Fairy gardens are not just about magical moments, mystical creatures and enchanted forests. Fairy gardens are a type of small world play that allows for special learning connections with nature, animals, plants and the earth. Creating a fairy garden also helps nurture the imagination as well as provide wonderful learning opportunities for children, tweens, teens and adults alike. Some of the learning opportunities include learning about specific plants and plant care, learning about soil and how to create special soil mixes using items such as compost, vermiculite and egg shells to name a few basic ingredients. Fairy gardening also provides wonderful opportunities in learning about weather patterns, predicting the weather, and changes in seasons. And these enchanted gardens also provide enchanting opportunities in the way of studying and learning habits of the animals that come and visit them such as ladybugs, bees, birds, squirrels, mice, chipmunks (and if you live in the country like I do - also learning about foxes, deer, moose, rabbits, coyotes, mice, bears, cougar, mink, weasels, voles and other wildlife critters that may stop by). I invite you to follow my page and discover the magical delight and learning opportunities that year round woodland fairy gardening offers to all ages.
